The next step is to assign the internet gateway to your VPC. You can give it the same CIDR as your VPC, or a smaller one.
Next, create a subnet to host our VPN instance. In my case, the RDS VPC has a 10.0.0.0/16 CIDR, so I’m assigning a 192.168.0.0/16 CIDR to the VPN VPC. Give the VPC a CIDR block that does not overlap your RDS VPC CIDR block. Navigate to the VPC section in the AWS Web Console and click “Create VPC”.
The first thing to do is to setup a simple VPC. In the rest of this tutorial, we will refer to the existing VPC as the “RDS VPC”. A Virtual Private Gateway, Customer Gateway and existing VPN connection can be present, but it is not required.
